Japan is one of the largest markets worldwide for electrified vehicles, and the country actually has more charging stations than gas stations. In a bid to get a strong hold into this market BMW will be opening 'BMW i Megacity studio' which will be the first of its kind in the world by the German automaker that would be selling the brands 'i' vehicles.
For the past decade or so, the hybrid and electric vehicle market has been dominated by domestic Japanese brands including Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda and Toyota. BMW is hoping a dedicated showroom for the i3 and i8 models will help attract buyers who would normally shop Japanese brands. The BMW i Megacity studio features an open glass display with eco-friendly materials including a ceiling packed with solar panels that are used to charge the BMW i3s as well powering as the showroom itself.
